When anyone dies, their survivors or family may need to know how the “get in” to their computer or phones. For this they’d need to know your password or PIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ve been asked “will my TouchID or FaceID still work when I’m dead?” In other words, can a persons dead fingers or face be used to unlock their phone. (The answer is no – the technology checks for that!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some people tell people their PINs and passwords to someone else before they die, but many people have no-one they trust this much. Some people leave a note with their Will, but this can hard to change if you change your passwords, and people may not know to look for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a bit morbid, but most people have not though about this, but it can be a real problem for people when you die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are services that check you’re still alive (for example by sending you a regular email to which you need to respond) and if they decide you are dead, they send an email you have already written to a nominated person or people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
